С одной неосторожной фразы пошло крушение карьеры заслуженного афганца Эдуарда Громобоева, его начинает преследовать генерал. Выручило эхо войны — «догнал» третий орден Красной ­Звезды, который свалился на героя, как снег на голову. В итоге всех перипетий, вместо увольнения из армии, «мятежный капитан» попадает в Германию, в Советскую группу войск, которая заканчивает свое пребывание здесь в связи с крушением ГДР и Берлинской стены. «Ссылка в Германию» становится для героя еще одним испытанием на прочность, он оказывается среди людей, заболевших неправдо­подобной жаждой наживы. Жаждой, которая вскоре охватит почти всю страну. И тут проступает главный мотив дилогии: нужно остаться самим собой, даже среди всеобщего хаоса и безумия! В итоге ­Громобоев оказывается в Москве… среди защитников Белого дома. Но и после «победы демократии» отношение к нему в военной среде остается тем же самым… Как быть дальше? Остается отправиться в командировку на очередную войну, в Таджикистан. На границу с тем самым Афганистаном, из которого он не так давно вернулся… Герой принимает этот вызов времени. Сколько еще войн выпадет на его долю?..
В дилогии Прокудина много юмора, открытой иронии над собой, над окружающими и вообще — над миром. В ней есть живая человече­ская судьба, судьба Солдата Отечества, много ярких эпизодов и много любви к людям в военной форме.

And then comes the main motive of the dilogy: you need to remain yourself, even in the midst of all-out chaos and madness! As a result, Gromoboev is in Moscow... among the defenders of the White House. But even after the "victory of democracy" the attitude towards it in the military environment remains the same... What to do next? It remains to go on a business trip to the next war, in Tajikistan. To the border with the same Afghanistan, from which he recently returned ... The hero accepts this challenge of time. How many more wars will fall on his share?.. In Prokudin's dilogy there is a lot of humor, open irony over himself, over others and in general - over the world. It has a living human destiny, the fate of the Soldier of the Fatherland, many bright episodes and a lot of love for people in military uniform.
